What better way to bring your community together than fundraising for your local children's hospice?

Every penny you raise means we can continue to provide vital care and support for children with serious or terminal conditions and their loved ones. It will all make a big difference.

Community fundraising ideas for charity

A garden with lots of bright flowers, at the Blooming Good Gardens flower show.

Flower shows

Who doesn’t love to see gardens in bloom? Encourage the more green fingered people in your local community to plant amazing displays of flowers and host a flower show. You can ask people for a fee in exchange for taking part, and encourage visitors to donate.

Community raffle

Why not host a raffle in your village or town? You can ask for donations from local people and businesses as prizes, and sell raffle tickets for a small amount. Our top tips for holding your own community raffle are; ensure you give each person a raffle ticket(s), sell these at the event (they cannot be sold online unless it is an online only raffle), and let people know when you will be drawing the raffle!

Have a picnic

Many of us have got to know our local area and our neighbours better over lockdown, and there’s been great community spirit. Why not celebrate that and have a picnic in your nearest park? Everyone can bring a dish, and because it’s outdoors it’s easy to be socially distanced. Charge a fee for joining in, and donate the money to Demelza.

Fundraisers Matthew and Vernon Hill, pose with the bikes, outside the Sittingbourne hospice.

Charity bike ride

Vernon, 12, wanted to raise funds so that the children and families Demelza supports can continue making memories together. Accompanied by dad Matthew, he cycled a mammoth 120 miles, completing the Viking Trail four times, over four weekends – raising over £1,500.

A house has been decorated for Halloween, with huge cobwebs and a giant spider.

Haunted house

For Halloween, Kieron and his family transformed their home into an extravagant Halloween display. The spooky set-up attracted an impressive flurry of trick or treaters, raising a phenomenal £2,617. Planning to go all out with your Christmas decorations? Host a Christmas lights 'switch-on', asking friends, family and neighbours to support with donations.
