Last month (Wednesday 22 June) RBC Capital Markets hosted its annual RBC Charity Day for the Kids: a day which unites its employees to support children and young people across the globe.

Demelza was among the beneficiaries and we were invited to attend a special event at the company’s London office.

The exhilarating and emotional day was topped with RBC announcing US$5 million in donations to support more than 55 charity partners globally - $140,000 (£114,000) of which was donated to Demelza.

Lila Dowie, Demelza’s Head of Corporate Partnerships and Trusts, said: “This is the fourth time Demelza has been a beneficiary of the RBC Charity Day for the Kids and we are so proud and grateful of the long-standing relationship we have with RBC.

“The money raised will play a vital role in supporting Demelza to achieve our new five-year strategy and realising our ambitious objectives – one of which is to reach more children with serious or terminal conditions who desperately need our care and support.”

Before the big reveal, RBC employees heard from Demelza’s CEO Lavinia Jarrett and Harriet, mum to 10-year-old Ethan, about the life-changing impact Demelza has on children with serious or terminal conditional across the south east.

Harriet, said: "Ethan, his nanny, and I had such a wonderful time at RBC’s Charity Day for the Kids. Everyone was so kind and attentive, and it was such a special one-off experience for Ethan. From riding to the event in a private car, to helping make international trades on the phone, he loved being the centre of attention and had a great day all-round.

“We are thrilled that the event raised an incredible £114,000 for Demelza, which will help them continue to provide a vital lifeline to more families like ours. Demelza will always hold a special place in my heart, and RBC’s mammoth support for their services means the absolute world."
