Olympic gold medallist ice skater Jayne Torvill has donated over 30 beautiful dresses from her time as a judge on ITV’s Dancing on Ice to Demelza.

Specially selected dresses are now available at Demelza shops in Rochester, Maidstone, Sevenoaks, Orpington and Hailsham, where Jayne launched the sale on Saturday 27 April.

Jayne was joined by Hailsham Mayor and Chairman, Paul Holbrook, spending time chatting with the charity’s staff and volunteers, as well as local shoppers who turned out to meet Jayne and support the charity.

Jayne said: “I’m delighted the dresses will be put to good use raising funds for the children and their families supported by Demelza.”

The Hailsham shop had a bumper trading day, taking over £700 on Saturday.

Tim Chichester, shop manager at Hailsham, said: “A huge thank you to Jayne for her generous donation and for coming to our Hailsham branch to launch the sale. Staff, volunteers and shoppers were delighted to meet her and to get the opportunity to buy some of the beautiful dresses.”
