There’s still time to sign up to our last Bubble Rush event of the year! Read about the fun we had at our Avery Hill event last month.

More than 1800 people descended on Avery Hill park on Sunday 26 June to enjoy Demelza’s second Bubble Rush event of the year. Excited participants of all ages made their way through 4ft walls of coloured foam bubbles, encouraged by former Charlton Athletic, Chelsea and West Ham star and football pundit Scott Minto, who has supported our charity for over 20 years.

Among the crowds were dozens of children who access Demelza’s services and their loved ones, who were invited to take part in our first ever family wave.

Among the 48 families was Kai from Greenwich, who has a serious and complex brain condition. The two-year-old raised over £120 with the help of his Aunty Em and the pair had great fun together in the coloured bubbles.

Mum Leanne, said: “We had an absolutely fantastic, fun-filled day, raising money to help children like Kai who are supported by Demelza. It’s so important to us to make memories as a family – and Demelza help us to do that.”

Thanks to ticket sales and sponsorship, the event raised £30,000 which will go towards funding our vital services.

Katherine Cordrey, Head of Community and Events at Demelza, said: “A huge thank you to everyone who turned out for the Bubble Rush in Eltham, everyone had a great day and there were smiles all round. And the weather was fantastic.

“As a charity, Demelza is almost entirely dependent on the generosity of our supporters to provide the funds that keep our services going so thank you – we could not do what we do without you.”
