Sheerness Demelza shop to reopen as outlet store

Sheerness shop

Sheerness shoppers will be able to bag even more of a bargain as the town's Demelza charity shop is due to reopen as an outlet store next week.

The shop, at 115 High Street, will be closed on Monday (July 13) for staff to change signage and stock and will reopen as an outlet on Tuesday (July 14).

Outlet shops have all the usual stock of Demelza’s other stores, such as clothing, homeware and toys, but products are priced between 50p and £5, with uniform pricing for certain items – for example all trousers will be £1.

The idea of outlet stores is to keep stock moving and give everyone the opportunity to buy good quality items at affordable prices. They also help make sure that every sellable donation Demelza is so generously given has a respectful chance of being sold and raising money.

It is only the Demelza charity shop changing to an outlet; prices in the Demelza children’s shop at 86 High Street will remain the same.

The shops are both open Monday to Saturday 9am to 4pm and on Sundays from 10am to 4pm.

Demelza’s Deputy Director of Retail, Gemma Cruttenden, said: “This change to pricing will give people more choice and suit different budgets and shopping habits, offering better value for all shoppers.

“Charity shopping is a great form of recycling as it keeps unwanted goods out of landfill, gives items a new lease of life and provides affordable shopping options.

“Items offered in outlet stores ensure more donations find a home and the money raised supports Demelza’s vital work providing expert clinical care, emotional support and practical help to children with serious or life-limiting conditions, and their families.

“We love being part of this community and we’re excited to share our new-look shop with Sheerness residents.”
