When it comes to your child, a lot of the focus becomes on treatment, managing symptoms, appointments and medications – and it can all get exhausting. That’s why Demelza offers Care at Home. Our registered nurses and health care assistants go directly into your home to provide care, crisis intervention, an on-call service and respite.

Individualised care
Each personal session will be tailored to your family’s specific needs. One of our health care assistants or registered nurses will take care of the child, so that you can take some time out; last year one mum used the time to take driving lessons and another told us it is the only opportunity she gets to properly vacuum her stairs. The time will be yours to do exactly what you need or want to do, knowing your child is being cared for by our highly trained and experienced team.

Expert nursing care
Our registered nurses have extensive knowledge and experience administering complex medication regimes, including the use of a syringe driver. We will work collaboratively with community care colleagues to support you and your child should you require this or have recently come out of hospital.

Care at Home in West Kent: Oakley's story
Lisa, Oakley's mum, has spoken about her experience of receiving Care at Home in West Kent, sharing how the service is making a difference to her family: “Demelza coming into our lives was like a big hug for our family. A hug we needed after a few years of feeling very alone, scared and unsupported. Oakley is still getting used to overnight care as he doesn’t like to be away for too long. What he really adores is his home care with Demelza as this is where he feels most comfortable."

Health Care Assistant Hettie shares an insight into her role
Hettie works as part of Demelza's West Kent Care at Home team, delivering our service in Maidstone, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks. “As a Demelza Health Care Assistant, I give my all when providing care, help and support to children and families. I do it in the way I would like to be cared for, or my children are cared for, should I ever be in the same situation as others."
