Director of Clinical Services
Liz Bray became Director of Clinical Services at Demelza in June 2020, following a children’s nursing career of over 30 years working in the NHS and charity healthcare sector.
Liz qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RN), and then as a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse (RSCN) at Kings' College Hospital in London. Liz started her nursing career at Bromley Hospital NHS Trust, where she helped set up a children’s community nursing team and gained a degree in Nursing Studies. Liz then worked as a Ward Manager on the Paediatric Unit at Medway NHS Trust and set up a High Dependency Unit on the children’s ward.
In 2004, Liz became the Head of Nursing for Children’s Services and then Lead Nurse for Placements and Commissioning at The Children’s Trust where she completed her MSc in Advancing Healthcare Practice.
Liz brought her passion for working with children and families along with her experience, clinical and leadership skills to Demelza in 2018, when she joined as Lead Nurse, Deputy Director of Care. And from this time, she has provided direction for Demelza’s care services within East Sussex, Kent and South East London, by facilitating high standards of nursing to children, young people and their families who require palliative and end of life care.
Liz is passionate about putting children and young people at the centre of her work and ensuring the best standards of care to the children and their families. She has evolved a culture of learning within Demelza; encouraging staff to continue to grow as professionals whilst providing safe and effective care.
