At Demelza, we believe our people are our greatest asset. Together we are #TeamDemelza; together we ensure children with serious or terminal conditions receive the best possible care and support.
At Demelza, supporting children, young people and their families is at the heart of what we do, but we need a range of skills and experience to achieve this.
Staff in varied roles from nursing to administration, from maintenance to retail – and many other roles between - are ensuring that we make a difference for those we care for, helping them to build precious memories. We recruit people with the skills and attributes needed for their individual role and provide ongoing learning and development opportunities.
Inclusion is a way of life here at Demelza and we understand that celebrating and embracing the unique differences people bring will make a creative, forward thinking organisation. Having a diverse team means we get a variety of views and make better decisions. It also helps us to understand and meet the needs of the diverse families we support. We are continually striving to improve our approach to equality, diversity and inclusion. Please see our EDI statement for further information.
Demelza has been awarded the Bronze Kent and Medway Healthy Workplace Programme award.
The programme, funded by Kent County Council and Medway Council, helps businesses become healthier places to work, and focus on the wellbeing of their employees. Not only does Demelza have steps in place to be a healthy workplace, but we’re also committed to continual improvement, and sustaining this long into the future. Passion, performance, pride
We admit it. We love what we do. We feel privileged to support the families who trust us to care for those they love. And we couldn’t be prouder to be part of #TeamDemelza, it’s the most rewarding job in the world.
We believe in passion, performance and pride – it’s how we get the best from each other and deliver exceptional care and support.
Fiercely committed to quality
The families and children we help, and our supporters, deserve nothing but excellence. Each one of use has a vital role to play in providing unique care and support and we always strive to deliver a brilliant service.
By working and improving together, we can give even more families a chance to enjoy time as a family, for as long as they have.
Human is our nature
Because we see the person and not the condition, we give each baby, child and family member a service that fits them as an individual. We’re all human, and through empathy and understanding, we can provide essential care as unique as the person its designed for.
Our different roles, skills and experiences make us stronger. We value and respect everyone who is part of our story, from the families we help, to the supporters and volunteers who keep us going, to each member of staff.
Good isn't good enough
Through evidence, insight and experience, we’re constantly developing and improving to give children and families better care and support. Standing still doesn’t get us anywhere. We always look for ways to transform change into opportunity and growth.
Always honest and authentic
We are clear, open and honest with everyone, because we value everyone. It’s good to challenge each other, as long as its constructive – we always look for a positive solution that moves us all forward. We exist to give the best care and support to children and their families and that matters more than anything else.

“I am passionate about getting things right and optimising pharmaceutical care for the children at Demelza, who are often on a complex cocktail of medication to manage their symptoms.”
Head of Lottery
“I love travelling around meeting all sorts of interesting people. It’s such a great feeling knowing that every new person I sign up to play Demelza’s Lottery or Superdraw will help children and families that little bit more.”
“I’ve always had a passion for cooking, but this is by far the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I love making mealtimes special for our families and cooking up their favourites. My signature cake is Chocolate and Banana and always goes down a treat!”
