High Sheriff of Kent visits Demelza for tour

Demelza has welcomed the new High Sheriff of Kent to its Sittingbourne site for a visit.

Jonathan Neame, who is Chief Executive of Faversham-based brewer and pub company Shepherd Neame, visited with his wife Lucie on Thursday.

They met with Chief Executive Lavinia Jarrett and Director of Clinical Services Katie Stevens, before being given a tour of the site, including the gardens and the new Hill Farm facility.

Having served as a trustee for Demelza in the 2000s, Mrs Neame had visited the site many times before and was pleased to return and see how it has changed and developed to include more services.

Vin said: “We were so pleased to welcome the High Sheriff and Mrs Neame to our Sittingbourne site and show them the facilities we have here, and for Mrs Neame to see how the site and our charity have evolved.

“We are very proud of the support we offer to children with serious or life-limiting conditions and it’s fantastic when we can share this with senior figures in our area.”

Mrs Neame said they had a lovely visit and were both very moved and impressed by the progress Demelza has made.

Mr Neame was appointed High Sheriff of Kent in April this year. The role is a non-political Royal appointment for every county in the UK. High Sheriffs support the Crown and the judiciary within their county and also lend support and encouragement to the emergency services, crime prevention and the voluntary sector.
