Demelza’s amazing supporters make summer appeal a huge success

Demelza’s amazing supporters have made its summer matching funding appeal a huge success.

The fundraising appeal was launched at the end of June and, thanks to the generosity of The Freddie Green and Family Charitable Foundation, every pound donated either online or in the community at events over the summer was doubled.

The appeal closed at Demelza’s Family Fun Day on Sunday (yesterday).

Demelza’s fundraising team has been overwhelmed by the response to the appeal, with supporters from across its communities helping them smash the target.

Hundreds of people have supported the campaign in so many ways, from direct donations and people organising their own fundraising events to attending our events over the summer and rounding up their donation in Demelza’s shops.

All of this incredible support reached the target for the foundation to double the amount and the funds raised will make a huge difference to the 1,197 children and families Demelza supports.

The campaign featured six children and their families who are supported by Demelza across its three areas – Kent, South East London and East Sussex.

Demelza’s Deputy Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications, Laura Smyth, said: “We’ve been blown away by the success of this campaign and the incredible way our communities have got behind it.

“It’s been so special to have taken the campaign beyond donations and to engage with our communities about Demelza and what we do at our events and activities throughout the summer – we’ve been delighted with the response.

“It’s a challenging time for charities and more than ever we are relying on our communities, who raise a massive 84% of our funding. This campaign has shown us again just how amazing they are. We couldn’t have done this without you – thank you to each and every one of you – you’ve helped us smash our target.

“We would also like to say a big thank you to the inspirational children and families who were part of our campaign.

“Being able to tell our supporters about the genuine experiences of those who use our services makes a huge difference and we are so very grateful to them.”

“We’ve been blown away by the success of this campaign and the incredible way our communities have got behind it."
