Summer programme

There’s something for everyone this summer at Demelza. All our events and activities are designed to be as accessible as possible for everyone in the family to enjoy. 

What to expect

  • Family events: events for the whole family group to come together, meet other families, have fun and make memories.

  • Creative arts therapies: groups or events organised and delivered by Demelza's creative arts therapies team.

  • Transition network: events for young people aged 14+ who are starting their transition journey into adult services and/or their parents or carers.

  • Sibling activities: activities for siblings, aged between five and 17, to develop peer networks, increase confidence and have fun.

  • Parent/carer wellbeing: a variety of events and activities to bring parents/carers together for dedicated time just for them to relax, recharge or get creative.

  • Engagement opportunities: opportunities for different members of the family to engage with Demelza, helping us improve our services so we can best support you.

Family fest 2026: sense of summer

Moments to see, hear, feel and smile for all of the family

Join us at this year’s family festival for a fun‑filled day of sensory and inclusive activities for all ages. Meet other families, enjoy live music and a disco, relax in our sensory space, have your face painted or perhaps get a glitter tattoo, bounce on the bouncy castle and so much more. Tasty refreshments will also be available.

  • South East London: Sunday 14 June, 1pm - 4pm

  • East Sussex: Sunday 26 July, 12pm - 3pm

  • Kent: Sunday 9 August, 1pm - 4pm

Creative arts therapies

Family choir day

Join us for our summer family choir day which will include a fun warm-up followed by learning and singing a couple of well-known upbeat songs. Don't worry if you haven't attended a choir session before - this session is open to everyone.

Friday 7 August, 11am - 3pm

Summer-themed sensory bags

Families can request a summer-themed music sensory bag, which will include sensory items to use at home while listening to an online playlist, whenever you like.

Please note, sensory bags are limited. If families are allocated a bag, these will be available to collect if attending an event, or from a Demelza hospice site.

Transition network

Come along and enjoy a fun‑filled day with the Demelza transition team, packed with creative crafts, baking treats, games and time to unwind in the sensory room.

Saturday 4 July, 10:30am–3:30pm.

Summer sibling activity days

Siblings aged between five and 17 are invited to join us for a day of fun and to build on peer support.

This summer, young people are invited to join us and enjoy a mix of indoor and outdoor fun, from arts and crafts to sports and so much more.

  • South East London: Monday 24 August, 11am–3pm

  • East Sussex: Wednesday 26 August, 11am–3pm

  • Kent: Thursday 27 August, 11am–3pm

 

Parent and carer wellbeing

Pack a picnic and join us for a welcoming, relaxed afternoon.

An opportunity for parents and carers to take some well-deserved time in a relaxed, casual environment and meet others in their area.

  • East Sussex: Wednesday 1 July, 11am–2pm

  • Kent: Wednesday 15 July, 11am-2pm

  • South East London: Thursday 16 July, 11am-2pm

Engagement opportunity

The engagement team are hosting their next brunch for dads and male carers.

Come along and enjoy brunch in a laid‑back setting, with the chance to connect and chat with other dads and male carers in Kent.

Saturday 27 June, 10am-1pm
