More than 30 runners complete London Marathon for Demelza

Five marathon runners in teal 'demelza' shirts wearing medals and bibs labeled HARRIET, TOMMY, HAYLEY, AIDAN, and AMY.

More than 30 runners completed the London Marathon on Sunday to raise money for Demelza.

The 33 Demelza runners were among more than 56,000 people who took to the streets of the capital at the weekend to take part in the 45th London Marathon.

Altogether #TeamDemelza has raised more than £110,000 by completing the 26.2 mile course, which takes in some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Participants included several family members of children supported by Demelza and three members of the care team, based at the charity’s Sittingbourne hospice.

A team of staff and volunteers from Demelza headed up to London to cheer on the runners and provide refreshments.

Senior Events Executive Emily Lofts, who coordinated #TeamDemelza, said: “It’s such a fantastic atmosphere at the London Marathon and we love going to support our runners and everyone who’s taking part.

“It’s an amazing achievement and we’re so proud of them all.

“It’s an honour to be able to support them in their marathon journey and we are so grateful to each and every one of them for choosing to raise money for Demelza.

“All the money raised will make a big impact on the lives of children with serious or life-limiting conditions and their families who use our services.”

Applications to join #TeamDemelza at the 2026 London Marathon are now open.
