If your new year's resolution is to make a difference, check out Demelza's volunteering opportunities

If you haven’t given up on your new year’s resolution yet and you’re looking for ways to make a difference, check out the volunteering opportunities at Demelza.

You could use your time and skills to support children with serious or life-limiting conditions, and their families, by volunteering in a range of different roles for the charity.

There are opportunities to get involved across Demelza’s sites, including in admin and hospice-based roles such as helping serve up lunches to families and working in the gardens.

If you’d be more interested in volunteering in our shops, you could join the retail team – there are behind the scenes roles or more customer-focused ones if you’re a people person and would enjoy working on the tills and welcoming shoppers.

You could also look at roles in fundraising and events - from organising pots to giving talks about Demelza and the support it provides – there’s something for everyone.

Demelza also has a range of volunteering roles which directly help the families the charity supports, including driving them to appointments or helping with everyday tasks such as gardening and DIY.

If you want to learn new skills, meet new people, make an impact and support your local community, any time you can give will help families when they need it most.

Demelza’s Deputy Director of People and Culture, Vanessa Lee, said: “At Demelza, we have more than 1,000 incredible volunteers who make a real difference every day.

“Every role matters and each hour you can give helps children and families feel support and cared for.

“If you’re looking for a way to give back this year, we’d encourage you to look at our volunteering opportunities and join Demelza.”
