Hundreds of people pick their pumpkins to raise money for Demelza

Hundreds of fundraisers came along to children’s charity Demelza’s first ever Pumpkin Patch event at the weekend.

The event took place at the charity’s site in Bobbing on Sunday (19 October).

More than 400 people were there, taking the opportunity to choose their pumpkin from a large patch with prices varying depending on the size of the squash.

Many people came along in fancy dress and had the chance to enjoy hot drinks and food while choosing their pumpkins.

Altogether the event raised around £2,500.

Demelza’s Senior Events Manager Anna Watson said: “This is the first time Demelza has held a pumpkin patch event and we’re delighted with how well received it was.

“We would like to thank everyone who came along and helped create such a fantastic atmosphere on the day.

“And a big thank you to Pumpkin Moon for their generous donation of pumpkins, MB Farms for the straw and to Ian Kemsley for his generous support of the event.”

There are plenty of Christmas events coming up that will help support Demelza throughout the festive period, including an Elf Trail and Festive Market in November.
