Demelza’s new charity shop will open mid-October

Children’s charity Demelza will open its new shop in Heathfield on Monday 13 October.

The charity was delighted to secure the premises, at 108 High Street, following the closure of its existing shop in the town earlier this year.

The building is larger and easier to access, with accessible facilities including a changing room.

It was 20 years ago this year Demelza opened its original shop in the town and the charity has always been well supported by local people.

Work to transform the space into a shop at the heart of its community has been completed and a team of staff and volunteers will spend the coming weeks filling it with stock.

There will be a huge range of affordable, pre-loved goods, clothes and collectables.

The shop is ready to take donations in the lead up to the opening and the team is now on site to receive them.

Demelza’s Deputy Director of Retail, Gemma Cruttenden, said: “We’re really excited to be opening a new shop in the heart of Heathfield.

“It’s a really important space for us – there’s a fantastic community here and we’re really looking forward to being part of it in an even bigger way.

“We would be really grateful of donations of pre-loved items to help us build a fantastic range of stock.”
