Demelza achieves silver workplace award

Demelza is delighted to have been reaccredited with the silver Kent and Medway Healthy Workplace Award.

The scheme, which is funded by Kent County Council and Medway Council, aims to help organisations focus on the wellbeing of their staff and become healthier places to work.

It takes into account guidance of best practice from the Department of Health, Business in the Community and NICE as well as health and wellbeing topics including managing absence and turnover, smoking, stress and substance misuse.

Companies complete the mandatory bronze level of the award before being encouraged to make pledges across a number of health and wellbeing themes. The silver award is given for completion of 15 pledges and Demelza initially achieved bronze in 2021, before receiving its silver accreditation in 2023.

The report on the accreditation states that Demelza has continued to offer health and wellbeing initiatives, a range of information, training and development, staff surveys are regularly carried out, one of its sites is completely smoke free and staff are engaged and generally satisfied.

After receiving the reaccredited silver award, Demelza is now aiming for gold, identifying key areas to strengthen within its wellbeing offer and committing to a further 15 pledges.

Demelza’s Director of People and Culture, Hayley Clark, said: “This award recognises the ongoing commitment Demelza shows in supporting colleague wellbeing across the organisation.

“It reflects the hard work, care and dedication that so many of our staff and volunteers contribute every day – creating an environment where wellbeing is valued, supported and embedded in how we work together.”
