Volunteer with families

Make a real difference

Volunteering with Demelza is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of children facing serious or life-limiting conditions and their family members.

From offering practical help to supporting at events, your time and care can bring comfort, connection and joy when it's needed most.

What roles are available?

Practical support

If you’re handy with a paintbrush, a mop, or a lawnmower, you can help a family with anything from larger DIY projects to everyday tasks.

Family support and events

Volunteer with our family support and care teams, engaging with and supporting families, helping out with siblings’ days, teenage groups, seasonal parties, stay and play sessions and our Demelza Dots group.

Bereavement support

Could you support a family at their most difficult time? Our volunteers take on befriending roles, helping to organise support groups and bereavement events for family members.

If you would like more information and want to speak to a member of the Practical Support team, please call us on 01795 845299 or send us an email.

"I think a lot of people have the wrong idea about hospices, but day-to-day the hospice is a really happy place."
