Joining team Demelza

Our fantastic team of charity fundraising volunteers help us engage with our supporters to boost donations for Demelza. If you’re good with people and have a passion for our cause, we'd love you to volunteer for Demelza and help us smash our annual fundraising target.

What roles are available?

Collections

Support Demelza by helping with our collection pots and bucket collections! Our pots are placed in local shops, pubs, and businesses, providing a steady stream of vital funds. You can make a big difference by collecting and replacing pots in your area, or by volunteering at bucket collections in supermarkets and at festive events like our Christmas fundraisers.

Admin

Join us in Sittingbourne, Eltham, or East Sussex to support Demelza with light admin tasks! Whether it’s using Excel or Word, sending thank you letters, or making friendly calls to our amazing supporters, your help makes a real impact. You’ll be working alongside your local Fundraiser at the Demelza site closest to you!

Ambassadors

Become a Demelza Ambassador and help spread the word about Demelza! You’ll represent us by giving talks and presentations to local groups and schools, or by attending cheque presentations to thank our incredible supporters. Full training is provided, and we’ll tailor the role to suit your interests and comfort level.

Activities

Become a Regional Fundraising Volunteer and get involved in a variety of fun and rewarding activities! From bucket collections and managing collection pots to lending a hand at local fairs and community events, your support helps raise vital funds for Demelza and brings people together for a great cause.

Events

Get involved in the excitement by volunteering at Demelza events like our Bubble Rush, Carol Concerts, and seasonal Easter and Christmas trails! You can also join our energetic cheer squads at major races like the London Marathon and Royal Parks Half Marathon—helping to motivate our incredible fundraisers every step of the way.

Fundraising groups

Join a local Demelza Friends Group and help organise community activities that raise vital funds and awareness! Whether you're supporting local fundraising events or helping with wider initiatives, your involvement makes a real difference. Or take the lead as a Friends Group Leader—organise events, inspire others, and grow your group by welcoming new volunteers to Demelza. It’s a fantastic way to connect with your community while supporting a cause that truly matters.

Short-term volunteering

If you aren’t looking to make a longer-term commitment, our short-term volunteering options could be for you, giving you the opportunity to help out at one-off events, through corporate volunteering or local schemes. We also offer work experience and Duke of Edinburgh placements for over-16s.

Katrina, a bereaved grandmother, sits in a chair with a gentle half-smile, reflecting quietly.

"Volunteering at events means I meet other families and that’s really nice. It’s lovely to see so many people and see different sides of what Demelza does. I would definitely recommend volunteering at Demelza. I think there’s so many benefits to anything you do, whether it’s helping out at an event or doing gardening. Just to see people’s faces light up!"
