Work patterns

We understand the importance of flexibility in nursing. At Demelza, you’ll benefit from:

  • Flexible shift patterns with a supportive, communicative team

  • A mix of on-site and community-based work

  • Average shift length of 12 hours

  • Full-time, part-time and flexibank contracts available

  • Balanced day and night shifts, planned well in advance

  • Additional paid enhancements for unsocial hours

Training & development

Student placements

We are committed to helping the next generation of nurses develop their careers in children’s palliative and hospice care. We offer high quality training and development opportunities for students wanting to start their careers in a field that will see them change lives.

Demelza offers placements to second and third-year student nurses on paediatric or learning disability pathways from:

  • University of Greenwich

  • University of Kent

  • Canterbury Christ Church University

  • London South Bank University

  • King’s College London

Students are allocated a mentor and can be placed at Demelza Kent or Demelza South East London.
