Practical support
Sometimes it’s the little things that make the biggest difference. Our Demelza volunteers can help relieve some of the day to day pressures to make life that little bit easier when you’re caring for a child with a serious or life-limiting condition.
Here to help with the everyday
Maybe you haven’t got round to tackling those weeds in the garden and you could do with support mowing the lawn. Or perhaps you need a lift to your next appointment, to a Demelza event or to the hospice. We’ll do our best to help.
Our volunteers are happy to share their skills in a way that works for you and can support you with driving and your gardening needs.
Support available for families
Driving support
We know arranging suitable transport isn’t always easy, but we can offer a variety of solutions to drive you and your family to hospital or clinical appointments, to collect prescriptions or attend Demelza meetings or events.
Gardening
The Demelza volunteers can help you keep on top of gardening jobs, including outdoor DIY, so you can spend precious time together enjoying your outdoor space at its best.
DIY
There are always jobs to be done around the house, such as painting and putting up shelves. Our practical support volunteers have got the skills and the time to help.
“Demelza's volunteers came to my home to help with jobs that I simply haven’t had the time or energy to do while caring for my son with disabilities. Having that extra help meant more than I can put into words, and I’m just so thankful for their time and generosity."
