Spring programme

There’s something for everyone this spring at Demelza. All our events and activities are designed to be as accessible as possible for everyone in the family to enjoy.

What to expect

  • Family events: events for the whole family group, to come together, meet other families, have fun and make memories.
  • Creative arts therapies: groups or events organised and delivered by Demelza's creative arts therapies team.
  • Transition network: events for young people aged 14+ who are starting their transition journey into adult services, and / or their parents / carers.
  • Siblings activities: activities for siblings, aged between five and 17, to develop peer networks, increase confidence and have fun!
  • Parent / carer wellbeing: a variety of events and activities to bring parents / carers together for dedicated time just for them, to relax, recharge or get creative.
  • Engagement opportunities: opportunities for different members of the family to engage with Demelza, helping us improve our services so we can best support you.

Spring get togethers

Fun spring-themed activities for the whole family

Join us for a casual get together, where you can meet other families and take part in activities such as a sensory search and meet some adorable fluffy animals. Get creative with some themed craft activities and enjoy some light refreshments too.

Please note: timings will be confirmed once we have an idea of numbers of families wishing to attend.

  • East Sussex: Wednesday 1 April
  • South East London: Wednesday 8 April
  • Kent: Wednesday 15 April

Chocolate eggs

Demelza is fortunate to receive donated chocolate eggs each year from our generous supporters.

These eggs will be made available to families attending events during this period. However, please note: as they are gifted to us, availability cannot be guaranteed.

Creative arts therapies

Spring-themed sensory bags

Families can request a spring-themed music sensory bag, which will include sensory items to use at home while listening to an online playlist, whenever you like.

Please note, sensory bags are limited. If families are allocated a bag, these will be available to collect if attending an event, or from a local Demelza hospice site.

Transition network

Young people aged 18–24 are invited to join us for a day filled with spring-themed activities such as crafting, baking, gaming and a sensory room experience!

Join us in Kent on Saturday 4 April, 10:30am–3:30pm.

Spring sibling activity days

Siblings aged between five and 17 are invited to join us for a day of fun and to build on peer support

A flexible opportunity for young people to take part in fun nature themed activities (outside, weather permitting) and get to know one another.

  • East Sussex: Wednesday 27 May, 11am–3pm
  • South East London: Thursday 28 May, 11am–3pm
  • Kent: Friday 29 May, 11am–3pm

Parent / carer wellbeing

A chance for parents / carers to create and craft together

An opportunity to meet other Demelza families and colleagues over  creative, mindful activities along with refreshments.

  • East Sussex: Tuesday 5 May, 10am–1pm
  • Kent: Thursday 7 May, 10am–1pm
  • South East London: Friday 8 May, 10am–1pm

Engagement opportunity

The engagement team are hosting brunches for dads and male carers and mums and female carers this spring.

Parents / carers are invited to come together, enjoy brunch in a casual setting and meet others in their local area.

  • Dads and male carers brunch in South East London:  Saturday 14 March
  • Mums and female carers brunch in KentSaturday 21 March
