Rory Burns

Trustee

Trustee Rory Burns stands smiling in sunny gardens, wearing a pale blue shirt.
Rory began his career as a registered children’s nurse at King’s College Hospital in London, where he provided care for children in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, High Dependency Unit and A&E.

During the pandemic, he moved into the private sector, managing Covid testing and vaccination clinics across London.

Following a career shift, he entered the charity sector, applying his skills to face‑to‑face fundraising for prominent organisations such as the National Deaf Children’s Society and the Blue Cross.

He blended his healthcare experience with business management expertise and moved into recruitment with Superior Healthcare – a complex care provider across the South East.

He went on to lead the recruitment division at Fortius Clinic – the UK’s leading private orthopaedic and sports injury group.

Rory now works as the Talent Acquisition Manager at the British Museum, where he leads on strategic hiring and long‑term workforce planning for one of the world’s most iconic cultural institutions. His role focuses on shaping recruitment strategy, improving processes and supporting the Museum to attract diverse, skilled talent across a wide range of specialist teams.

Residing in the sunny seaside town of Whitstable, Rory is a proud volunteer and advocate for Humanists UK, and his diverse background includes roles as a nanny, football coach, music teacher and now part of Demelza.
