A star of the West End for more than three decades, Anna-Jane Casey has had some enviable roles, from Velma Kelly in Chicago to Anita in West Side Story. And now she’s embracing the role of marathon runner to raise funds for Demelza!

Salford-born AJ, who lives with her husband and two children in Faversham, Kent, agreed to take on the challenge after talking to friend Robin Cousins, former British competitive figure skater and Olympian, and long-term supporter of Demelza.

Sussex-based Robin said: “I have been a Vice President at Demelza for over 15 years now and although multiple knee surgeries mean running isn’t for me these days, I knew the perfect person to take on the challenge and suggested AJ.”

AJ is a keen runner and has already started on her training programme to prepare for the marathon which this year takes place – COVID-19 restrictions permitting – on Sunday 3 October.

AJ said: “I’m honoured to be able to take on the marathon to raise funds for Demelza and awareness of the work they do, providing specialist care services to over 600 children, young people and families across the South East.”

If you would like to sponsor AJ, you can do so through her Just Giving page.
