What better way to bring your community together than fundraising for your local children's hospice?

Every penny you raise means we can continue to provide vital care and support for children with serious or terminal conditions and their loved ones. It will all make a big difference.

Ideas for fundraising in your local community

Blooming Good Gardens flower show

Flower shows

Who doesn’t love to see gardens in bloom? Encourage the more green fingered people in your local community to plant amazing displays of flowers and host a flower show. You can ask people for a fee in exchange for taking part, and encourage visitors to donate.
Bed pull in the high street

Bed pull

Have you ever seen a bed pull? It’s quite a sight, and something Demelza have become known for. Fundraisers pull a bed up and down a local street in exchange for sponsorship. A fantastic public display of strength and kindness, while raising funds for Demelza.

Newsletter sponsorship

Maybe you have a community newsletter or bulletin. Why not ask local businesses to sponsor each edition, and donate their fee to Demelza? They benefit from some advertising, people know their local businesses, and funds are raised for Demelza– everyone wins.
Two ladies by their raffle stall at an open day

Community raffle

Why not host a raffle in your village or town? You can ask for donations from local people and businesses as prizes, and sell raffle tickets for a small amount. The thrill is in not knowing if you’ll win or what you’ll win! Our top tips for holding your own community raffle are; ensure you give each person a raffle ticket(s), sell these at the event (they cannot be sold online unless it is an online only raffle), and let people know when you will be drawing and announcing the raffle!

Have a picnic

Many of us have got to know our local area and our neighbours better over lockdown, and there’s been great community spirit. Why not celebrate that and have a picnic in your nearest park? Everyone can bring a dish, and because it’s outdoors it’s easy to be socially distanced. Charge a fee for joining in, and donate the money to Demelza.
