Event FAQs

Kilimanjaro - Machame Route

You will begin your journey by setting off from the UK on Thursday 22 September 2022 for a 10-day trip. On day three you will begin your once-in-a-lifetime experience. Starting on the South Western side of the National Park, you will trek through the lush vegetation of the rainforest and into the Moorland zone, with increasing spectacular views.

Next, you will scale over the volcanic rock of the towering Barranco Wall – a real highlight of the ascent, with truly breathtaking views. You will then have a steady climb out of Karanga Camp towards Barafu, where you will be getting prepared for the summit day!

The summit day – the toughest challenge of the trek. The rising morning sunlight offers you more spectacular views across the rolling plains below, and of Mount Meru in the distance. Once finally reaching the summit, savour the immense feeling of satisfaction for what you have achieved – both for yourself, and for the children and families at Demelza. You’ll have a spring in your step when making the surprisingly quick descent back down to your final camp.
