Demelza Hospice Care for Children provides specialist care and emotional support for children with terminal conditions and their loved ones, so they can enjoy their time together for as long as they have.
Every year our work is a lifeline to over 750 families throughout Kent, South East London and East Sussex. We offer round the clock care that gives parents and siblings peace of mind and the chance to be a family and make precious memories.
In the areas supported by Demelza there are currently 5,000 children with terminal conditions and with current resources, Demelza is only able to support roughly 1 in 5 of them. Demand for our services is ever increasing and the number of children who have a terminal or life-threatening illness is set to double in the next 10-20 years. So the charity needs to radically transform the way it delivers its service in order to support more children and their families going forward.
At the start of 2019, Demelza Hospice Care for Children launched Demelza Care at Home, a service that offers families end of life care at home and expands Demelza’s hospital in-reach work. It will offer short term breaks for families in the home and extend the provision of therapy and family support across all of Demelza’s services.
2019 also marks the 10th anniversary of our hospice in Eltham. We hope this event will help us raise greater awareness for our London hospice and the work that we do across SE London.
If you are unable to make the event but would like to support Demelza with a donation we would be hugely grateful.
