Jean wins big in Demelza Lottery Superdraw!

Jean Mitchell is still in shock after winning £25,000 in our Superdraw this March. After a very sad and difficult year, she wasn’t expecting such good news, especially when we asked her whether she was sitting down.

We caught up with Jean to find out more about her experience of winning. Jean said: “I am still in shock, it doesn’t seem real. I don’t think it will properly sink in until I can see the money in my bank account. After such a difficult year it feels like such a double whammy to win.

“I started taking part in the Demelza Lottery, after attending a Craft Fair in 2018. A nice lady was telling us about it and I signed up there and then. I follow what Demelza do on their website and it always seems so upbeat and colourful, I find it really uplifting. Before I retired I was a therapist and would often work with parents who have faced bereavement and understand how important the services Demelza run are.”

Jean is standing in front of her house, wearing a white and pink jumper.

The windfall has come at an excellent time for Jean, as she needs to do some substantial renovations to her Victorian cottage. She is also planning to treat her children and grandchildren to something nice as recognition for how difficult the past year has been and how proud she is of them for home-schooling and everything they have faced. Jean has also kindly decided to contribute some of her winnings back to Demelza.

Jean added: “I often tell people they should join Demelza lottery, especially if they are considering doing something like this. With so many charities to choose from you have to really think about who is using the money from it the most effectively and for me that is Demelza.”
