Demelza Younger Siblings Group
Having a brother or sister with a life-limiting or life-threatening diagnosis can often be lonely, and having fun can seem difficult or almost impossible at times. At Demelza we run activities to support some of the social isolation that can be common among siblings.
Our younger siblings group (ages 5-10) meet during the school holidays. We recently had a fun-filled day at Demelza where we competed in Marshmallow relays, made paper aeroplanes and created forts in the soft play area. The group enjoyed arts and craft activities and we worked on a big picture of all our hands, drawn around overlapping each other, to make a great abstract piece of art.
We also tried to make Rainbow Snake Bubbles, where we used plastic bottles and socks, dipped in bubble mixture to blow great big bubble snakes. We even had a competition to see who could make the longest snake!
The group had a great day and gave some great suggestions of things they would like to do in the future such as making sandwiches, going to adventure play areas, creating graffiti print t-shirts and generally having fun together!
