Meet Liz

Liz became Director of Quality Improvement and Clinical Governance in March 2022, following a children’s nursing career of over 30 years working in the NHS and charity healthcare sector.

Liz qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN), and then as a Registered Sick Children’s Nurse (RSCN) at Kings' College Hospital in London. Liz started her nursing career at Bromley Hospital NHS Trust, where she helped set up a children’s community nursing team and gained a degree in Nursing Studies. Liz then worked as a Ward Manager on the Paediatric Unit at Medway NHS Trust and set up a High Dependency Unit on the children’s ward.

In 2004, Liz became the Head of Nursing for Children’s Services and then Lead Nurse for Placements and Commissioning at The Children’s Trust where she completed her MSc in Advancing Healthcare Practice.

Liz brought her passion for working with children and families along with her clinical experience and leadership skills to Demelza in March 2018, when she joined as Lead Nurse, Deputy Director of Care. Liz became Director of Clinical Services at Demelza in June 2020 providing direction and leadership for Demelza’s Clinical Services (Nursing and Care, Family Support and Service Development) within Kent, South East London and East Sussex.

Liz is passionate about putting children and young people at the centre of her work and ensuring the best standards of care are delivered to babies, children, young people and their families who require palliative and end of life care. She has evolved a culture of learning within Demelza; encouraging staff to continue to grow as professionals whilst providing safe and effective care.
