If you have a few hours spare each week, like meeting new people and want to get out of the house, we have the perfect opportunity for you at our Demelza shop in Hythe, Kent.
More volunteers are needed to help with a variety of tasks at the busy shop – and even just four hours a week would be welcomed.
Shop volunteers could help out with a variety of tasks from sorting and pricing stock, to serving on the till and dressing the windows.
Lucy Vint is the new shop manager at Hythe, previously having worked as an assistant manager at Demelza’s Tenterden shop.
She said: “I currently have about 15 volunteers but I am in need of more. Ideally volunteers will do at least four hours a week and this really helps. Every extra pair of hands makes a difference. It helps us to raise money.
If you’re bored, lonely, always wanted to work in a shop and want to feel valued then we would love to hear from you! And you’re never too old to volunteer. Indeed, we have one volunteer who is 96.
Working in the shop is very varied and volunteers don’t have to do the till if they don’t want to. They could accept donations, thank people for donations, sort through donated items, price them and put them in the window. There’s also cleaning to be done and hanging and steaming.”
Anyone who would like to volunteer is asked to phone the shop on 01303 237457 or to pop in.
