Smiling faces and the sounds of laughter filled the room at Demelza’s New Year parties.
Celebrations kicked off on Sunday 7 January with a Winter Wonderland-themed party at the Mecure Maidstone for families who regularly use Demelza Kent, our hospice near Sittingbourne.
Around 70 children and young people and their parents and siblings were treated to an afternoon of games, delicious food, magic tricks and musical entertainment from Sean Sullivan, Demelza’s HR Business Partner.
Two weeks later the fun continued with a Disney party at The Crofton Halls in Orpington for families who use Demelza SEL, our hospice in Eltham, South East London.
Liz Wenham, mum to three-year-old Mia who has cerebral palsy, said: “We all had such a lovely afternoon at the Demelza New Year party. Mia loved all the dancing and having her face painted. It was also beneficial for my husband and I to meet other parents who are supported by Demelza.”
The children enjoyed meeting Disney characters Belle, Ana and Elsa and had lots of fun singing along to Disney favourites performed by students from Bird College.
Ann Fagg, Care Service Lead at Demelza SEL, said: “We had a fantastic turn out of more than 120 and it was so lovely to see so many of our families getting together. We’re so very grateful to everyone who donated their time, resources and prizes to help make this party so very special and memorable.”
