This week is National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2017 and with two great success stories to date, Demelza is really pleased to be expanding its apprenticeship scheme.
We piloted an apprenticeship scheme in 2014 and took on two apprentices at Demelza.
Sophie LaHaye (pictured above) was our first apprentice, working in the HR team. It was such a success that Sophie went on to get a full-time job as an HR assistant at the end of the scheme and now leads on all of our recruitment.
She says: “Following on from last year, I have taken on the role as Recruitment Lead for Demelza. Going back to the start of the apprenticeship, I never thought I would have progressed so far and into a position that I love so much. Every day is different and each week brings new challenges and learning experiences.”
Leah Akhurst then joined Demelza in our lottery team.
Leah says: “My apprenticeship at Demelza has given me the opportunity to enhance my skills and develop my confidence in the workplace.”
Director of People and Resources, Lavinia Jarrett said: “Demelza must grow our skills in all areas and Apprenticeships are a fantastic ways to achieve this.”
Building on these successes, Demelza is delighted to be in the process of setting up an apprenticeships scheme which is due to be launched in the Spring of 2017. We will be looking for business administration apprentices to join our busy teams across the organisation.
