A celebration of Christmas at Canterbury Cathedral

22 December 2016
Hundreds of families, staff, supporters and volunteers joined VIPs at Canterbury Cathedral for a celebration of Christmas on Monday 20 December.

The Choir of Canterbury Cathedral led a rousing Carol Concert to mark the start of the festive season along with West Malling Community Choir.

A highlight of this year’s concert was one of Demelza’s younger children, Hallie, singing the favourite carol ‘Little Donkey,’ accompanied by the charity’s Therapy Services Manager Jane O’Neill on flute.

Among those reading were The Right Worshipful The Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Councillor George Metcalfe, The Admiral of the Fleet, The Lord Boyce KG GCB OBE DL, Demelza founder president Derek Phillips and Heart FM Drivetime presenter Neil Kefford. Canon Clare Edwards welcomed guests and lit the festive candle.

Demelza’s Events Co-ordinator Lianne Lloyd said: “Thank you so much to everyone who came to Canterbury Cathedral for our celebration of Christmas. As well as being a great start to your Christmas celebrations you were supporting our work with life-limited and life-threatened children and their families.”
