Mum-of-three Sally has described winning £6,978 with the Demelza Lottery as “completely life-changing.”

The 38-year-old from West Malling signed up as player six years ago after learning more about Demelza following a visit to our Kent hospice.

Sally, said: “I came to look at all the wonderful care and facilities on offer as my daughter Brooke is severely disabled. Although Brooke didn’t meet the eligibility criteria, I still wanted to do my bit to support Demelza as I know how physically and emotionally draining it can be as a parent of a child with additional needs.”

The call from Demelza came at a crucial time for Sally who was already starting to feel the pinch from the cost of living crisis.

“I just burst into tears when they told me on the phone,” said Sally. “It’s a lot of money and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted as I’ve been worrying about the increasing costs we are all facing.”

Now the reality of her windfall has sunk in, Sally and her husband Duncan, 46, are hoping to book a special holiday to the Dominican Republic next year with their three children – Brooke, 13, Pixie, 4, and one-year-old Bear.

Sally added: “Brooke is non-verbal, wheelchair dependent and can only eat pureed food so it costs us a lot of money to go on accessible holidays. This Demelza Lottery win is completely life-changing as it will enable us to go on a wonderful guilt-free family holiday, where we can be together and make the best memories.”
