Local law firm Cripps supports Demelza

The law firm, with offices in Tunbridge Wells and London, began supporting Demelza in May this year and the partnership will run until the end of April 2024, with the partners at the practice matching monies raised at the end of this period up to a total of £20,000.

One of the launch events on 1 July saw a team from Cripps walking 24 miles up, down and between the Yorkshire Peaks: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, ascending 5000ft and raising a fantastic £5,000.

Shannon Coster, legal secretary team leader in the Cripps commercial real estate team, who completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge, said:

“It was a great experience, which allowed me to bond with colleagues across the firm. The whole team pulled together, battling all sorts of weather and I am so proud of what we achieved. We were all so grateful for the amazing support we received from friends, family and clients, who helped us raise over £5,000 for an excellent cause.”

Further events are planned throughout the year, including a dress sale which ran during the week of the 21 August at the Tunbridge Wells office and included several dresses donated by Demelza Celebrity Ambassador Jayne Torvill. The gold medal-winning Olympian, who has supported Demelza since 2004, regularly donates the dresses she wears on Dancing on Ice to the charity and they made a great addition to the selection of dresses gathered by Cripps’ employees.

Staff also participated in the Bewl Water Dragon Boat Race Festival on Saturday 2 September where they raced other local businesses. The charity committee also organised a tennis tournament on 6 September at Tunbridge Wells Lawn Tennis Club, as well as a skydive later in the year which will see seven of the firm’s bravest, including three of the firm’s partners, take the plunge for Demelza!
