A few ways you could support us by being a corporate partner.

There are lots of ways you can support Demelza through your place of work, from Charity of the Year Partnerships to donating goods for our retail outlets, we’ve definitely got means for you to get involved! By supporting Demelza through a corporate partnership you are not only benefitting the children and families we support each and every day, but also have the opportunity to motivate and develop teams, ignite their passion around a purpose, hit your CSR goals and have fun in the process.

Cause related marketing

Cause related marketing and product placement are fantastic way to collaborate with Demelza through your place of work. Not only does it promote your own company sales or processes, but it gives an opportunity to help support a charity and raise awareness. An example of how we currently do this with one of our corporate partners is through our Kent Reliance partnership. In 2018 they launched a bespoke children’s savings account where they donate 0.25% of the total average balances held within the savings accounts every year.  Last year this totalled over £12,000 to support our cause, whilst raising awareness of us as a charity and giving customers a non-transactional way to interact with their brand.

The Project Manager lead at Kent Reliance said at the launch:

“We feel honoured to work with Demelza Hospice Care for Children and look forward to helping the children and families they support on a daily basis through this new account. Encouraging children to save is an essential step in their financial education and this new account encourages the savings habit at an early age.”

Fundraising at work

A great way to support us is to fundraise at work. Even if you’re currently working remotely, there are still lots of ways to raise money for Demelza. Getting your team and colleagues involved in your fundraising challenge is also a great way to make everyone feel included and gives you an excuse to come together virtually or in-person (if possible).

You may choose to set up your own virtual challenge from a running, walking or doing something completely out the box.  Maybe you love a to team quiz or virtual pizza making evening with your colleagues. No matter how mad it might seem, it all counts and we’re always here to help! The options really are unlimited. Andrew Fergusson, an employee of corporate partner RBC Capital Markets, recently completed a 4x4x48 running challenge, where he ran four miles, every four hours for 48 hours and raised over £23K for Demelza.

Andrew said: “We did it! What a brutal challenge! Made all the worse by relentless pain in my left knee, but I managed to survive the whole 48 miles thanks to all the incredible support that I received!"

“My motivation was RBC Charity Day for Kids and learning about this incredible charity, whom I was desperate to support with their fundraising efforts.”

Or how about organising a raffle or sweepstake, they are a great way to involve the whole organisation. Whether it’s a seasonal theme, sporting event, Eurovision Song Contest, or even television programmes such as Strictly Come Dancing or The Great British Bake Off – sweepstakes and raffles are an easy way to fundraise and potentially even win a prize yourself.

Corporate and staff volunteering / employee engagement days

Encouraging staff volunteering or volunteering as a team is a great way to support charities. Your employees can really make a difference by donating your time to support various areas across Demelza. Whether this is in our gardens at our hospice in Kent, in one of our 28 shops across the South East or even at one of our large-scale fundraising events, there’s always lots to do. Whether it’s a one-off volunteering day or a longer-term regular commitment, we would love to spend time with you.

One of our regular corporate volunteering groups who support us as part of a wider partnership came in to donate their time recently in our gardens.  Despite the torrential rain, the team helped us to clean the outside area of the family rooms at our Kent Hospice, giving it a lick of paint and supporting getting the area ready for family events in the future.

Payroll Giving

Payroll Giving is a way of giving money to charity without paying tax on it. It’s a really simple way of donating to Demelza, as it comes out of your PAYE every month. Payroll giving is easy to set up, for both the company and the employee and helps Demelza with regular income in a way that is also tax efficient for you and your colleagues.

Donating goods and sustainability

Donating items you no longer need in your office, from furniture to technology to unwanted gifts is a really great way to support the work we do. These can either be used within our hospice sites,  or we can sell them in our charity shops to raise vital funds for Demelza Hospice Care for Children. Not only will you be supporting Demelza and our communities, but you also be preventing items from going to landfill and ticking that box for your sustainability goals.
