We pride ourselves in taking the time to get to know your family when we support you, to enable us to provide the care and support that meets your needs. We understand that one size doesn’t fit all and our services are personalised to meet the needs of the babies, children, young people and families we support.

At Demelza, we believe that every child and young person who has serious or life-limiting conditions should receive the care and attention they need to live the most fulfilling life they can, and that you have the opportunity to build memories, for however long you have.

We’ve been providing this care since 1998 and, through the generosity of others, we can continue to be there for families for years to come. Over this time, we have learnt and developed our services to ensure that they meet your needs.

Our history

Our impact

With today’s medical advances, the number of children and young people living with a serious or life-limiting condition is increasing every year. Many need care and support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, placing families under huge emotional, financial and practical pressure.

At Demelza, we want life to be the best it can be for children who have serious or life-limiting conditions – and for their parents, brothers and sisters, and all those who love them.

We provide care that doesn’t back down, supporting families wherever is best for them: in our hospices or in their homes, online, at school and in local communities. When they need us most, we’ll be there; to reassure, to guide and to care.

Our specialist nursing and care teams can help to keep children out of hospital or leave hospital sooner and we can help parents learn to meet the complex medical needs of their children with confidence.

We can help improve the wellbeing, independence, knowledge and resilience of families whilst empowering them to do their very best during the most difficult of times. We can help families to smile, laugh and offer a rare opportunity to relax. Most importantly, Demelza can help them to be families, enjoying time together and creating memories.

Demelza supports over 2,500 children and family members, and we have plans to continually extend our reach. But we wouldn’t exist without all the wonderful work of our community, from fundraising, to charity shops and local initiatives. Every gesture, no matter the size, has a massive impact on the lives of the children and families we support.
