Chef takes to the road for Demelza

A chef at Demelza Hospice Care for Children is doing a sponsored walk from Brighton to Sittingbourne later this month.

Philip Martin and four of his friends, including Ann Fullbrook from the care team, all from the Sittingbourne area, are doing the four day walk to raise money for the charity he works for.

The group will start their walk at Brighton Pier on October 29 and finish at Demelza's hospice in Bobbing, near Sittingbourne on November 1.

They aim to raise enough money to fund next year's bereavement weekend.

Philip said: The bereavement weekend means a lot to the families as it brings them together to share their experiences.

'The weekend is packed of different activities for the whole family and as a chef we provide all the food for the families over the weekend, this includes a 'posh nosh' buffet on the Saturday night as well a full Sunday lunch before they go home.

'We are hoping to raise in the region of £4,000 for the weekend and for future bereavement events, this money will really make a difference to all the families evolved in the weekend.'
