A pub challenge with a difference took place on Saturday (September 5).
Thirty seven cyclists, including two tandems, rode 100 miles, starting and finishing at The Mark Cross Inn, Mark Cross, near Tunbridge Wells as part of the Whiting and Hammond Cycle Challenge.
The route took them via all five public houses in the Whiting and Hammond group; The Mark Cross Inn, Mark Cross, The Old Mill, East Grinstead, The Little Brown Jug, Chiddingstone, The Chaser Inn, Shipbourne and The Farm, Eastbourne.
Each cyclist received a light breakfast on arrival, lunch, BBQ dinner and refreshments at various stopping points on route in addition to a Demelza / Whiting and Hammond t-shirt, sponsored by the organizers.
Last year over 21 cyclists raised an incredible £7,000 for Demelza. This year they aim to raise £10,000 and have so far raised nearly £4,000.
Karen Warner, area fundraising manager said: 'We are so grateful to Chris Hammond and the team for organizing this event, the staff at all pubs in the group for their support and of course all of the cyclists for taking part.'
