About George

George is a retired executive with a varied professional portfolio, having worked in public, private and charity sectors. On completing a successful Army career, principally as a military engineer, he took a senior position with HCP Social Infrastructure (now Vercity), applying strategic, technical and commercial leadership to oversee major commercial contracts with such clients as the NHS and MOD. His last job in this role before retiring was as Project Director of the NHS-PFI contract to reconstruct and operate St Bartholomews and the Royal London Hospitals.Since retiring, George has continued to work in the third sector. Most recently with Porchlight in Canterbury seeking to find good quality housing for homeless folks in East Kent and on a ‘Break-the-Cycle’ project for ex-offenders. He has been a trustee of the Heart of Kent Hospice for five years.Originally from Scotland, George has lived in Kent for almost 20 years. He and his wife Marylyn have a close family and like nothing better than getting together with members of the clan. They also like to travel when their dog allows it! George is a keen sports fan, now mostly from the couch, and plays golf.
